St. John, US Virgin Islands
Most people think of big resorts when they think of travel to the US Virgin Islands. A very popular place with locals and visitors alike is on the tiny island of St. John. It is called Maho Bay Campgrounds. The campgrounds offer clean but rustic facilities for sleeping (platforms enclosed with screens) and common toilet and shower areas. It is reknown as an eco-friendly place to visit.
One of the most fascinating parts of the Campground is their glass blowing shop. They recycle all the glass containers used on the premises (jars, soda bottles, beer bottles, wine bottles, etc.) and use the glass for their glass blowing demonstrations.
When you visit the shop, you watch as the craftsmen make a variety of objects. You are even allowed to help in the process, and try your hand at making your own piece of art. All products produced are sold at the shop.
The Glass Blowing Studio is unique among island attractions. When you're tired of swimming and snorkeling at the beautiful beaches of Francis, Maho, Trunk and Cinnamon bays, visit the glass blowers and watch art in the making.
