D & A Stained Glass Creations in Holder, Florida

by Chris
(Citrus County, Florida)

D & A Stained Glass Creations is in central Florida, a short drive from Ocala, in Citrus County. Holder is a very small, one or two traffic light town, so you may want to consult a map before you venture out.

It is owned and operated by a husband and wife team. This couple is not only practitioners of the craft themselves, but stock the largest supply of glass and accessories in the area. That may not seem like a big claim being a small geographic area but they indeed do have just about anything you could need, plus are very amicable about ordering special requests. I had moved from a big city with many choices for stained glass and dichroic glass requisitioning and was pleased to find the right glass I needed to complete a project I had started after I relocated to this low key area. I was doubly pleased to find that they were more than happy to accommodate me by selling replacement parts for my grinder, rather than hustling me into buying a whole new machine like folks did in the big city.

The store also features supplies for making glass stepping stones, and has a good selection of books as well. In the window, if you are looking for a gift there are many items to be had.

The store was recently renovated to provide additional class space and space for more equipment such as an additional kiln for making fused glass. I look forward to enrolling in classes taught by these very welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable people. They are always pleased to help other succeed and share their tips, rather than other store owners I have met who seem to think they have the corner on the craft "secrets".

Whether you are on the nature coast or looking for a stop along a long adventurous drive, check them out.
