Covering for kiln wash

by June Askew
(Maleny, Queensland, Australia.)

Hello,

My instructor told me to use Aluminum Hydrate powder after the kiln wash has dried thoroughly.

You wear a mask as it is not healthy to breath in, I have a plastic tea strainer which is small.

I put a small amount into that & tap on it lightly spreading over the kiln wash where you are placing your glass.

Then take it to the laundry or a wash basin & brush it gently off with a cheap paint brush & flush down the sink.

This is because if you leave it in tiny lumps they will imprint into the glass.

I find it much better than the kiln shelf paper, that used to make pit marks on the back of my pendants but no more since then.

Good Luck & don't forget to brush off the surplus powder.
